The 12 zodiac signs: dates and meanings

The tropical zodiac divides the Sun's yearly path into 12 signs of exactly 30°, starting at the March equinox (0° Aries). Your Sun sign is the sign the Sun occupied when you were born. Because the Sun's ingress times shift by several hours each year, the boundary dates can move by about a day.

How these dates are calculated

Dates on these pages are calculated, not copied: we compute the moment the Sun's apparent ecliptic longitude crosses each 30° boundary with Astronomy Engine (Don Cross, MIT license), which its author documents as accurate to within about ±1 arcminute. The range "earliest–latest" covers 1930–2030 in UTC.
